Harada House
Sarah Suverkrup Mundy is the city of Riverside’s Director of Museums & Cultural Affairs. As such she is responsible for the Riverside Metropolitan Museum, Heritage House, the National Historic Landmark Harada House, Fox Performing Arts Center, The Box, Municipal Auditorium, and multiple other realms as they relate to art and culture for the City of Riverside.
2013 was an exciting year relative to the National Historic Landmark (NHL), Harada House. Mundy spearheaded the successful fundraising and ultimate purchase of the Robinson House located next door to the NHL Harada House. This single development has functioned as a springboard for community and city participation and support in creating an interpretation center for Harada House; as well as a renewed interest in the conservation and preservation of the only NHL of its kind in the country. NHL Harada House is an intact house with full object and archival collections that illuminate the journey to the American Dream of a Japanese American family through the 20th Century.
